A Valentine from Jesus? Well, that's just one interpretation...

This image has been going around the tackier regions of Facebook.

Thankfully, someone took the time to find an alternative reading of the passage, applying the same hermeneutic...

  1. That face just confirms what we already know: Ryan Gosling is Jesus.

  2. Abraham, why are you putting this garbage up? I am not edified. Neither one is helpful. The one is tacky and the other is vulgar. But the latter has a sacrilegious intent. At least the person who came up with the first has his/her heart (no pun intended) in the right place.

    1. One man's trash is another man's funniest thing he's seen online all day, I guess...

    2. Glad to see someone here can speak authoritatively on the thoughts & intentions of the original designers. After all, if he couldn't speak with authority, we might be left to conclude that only one party here is getting the benefit of the doubt.

    3. Did God not create the gastrointestinal system? Did He not call all that He created good? Did he not call Humanity "Very good"? Oh we could argue all day about whether or not farting and other "toilet functions are pre or post-fall, (though I would argue pre since the curse was on the earth and not us, but that is tangental) but the fact remains that while the intent of the authors is not known, at least the latter is theologically more correct, than the tacky, former.

    4. As way of reminder, check out the About section for this blog. Abraham warned us this might happen, and what to do (not do) about it.

  3. Clever and cheeky! I like my religion with a good dose of a sense of humour.

Anyway, I think most people will read it as intended: That if God's love is in your heart, you don't need to force convoluted, trite, and extraneous (I can thesaurus!) meanings out of something that was pretty much perfect as it was. Maybe it's better for the more chaste minded among us that Farts Rule wasn't equally accompanied by clip art though...

  4. ha! always a joy to find acronyms that are truly spectacular and worth the time passing on :) Yet somehow those tacky, pay it forward, clip art, pictures travel all around the web and get many many likes!! Gotta love old people...
